Particularly harsh climatic conditions have led to the interruption of the 2007 Chicago Marathon (TM). Poorly controlled, this decision of the race has generated its share of controversies about the degree of preparation for the crisis of the organizers. This case is interesting to analyze from the perspective of the genesis and management of the crisis, considered here as a process of weakening and destabilization organization. A methodology combining literature and semi-structured interviews has resulted in the following key results: the exponential growth of the MC increased its vulnerability to climate history scorching the Chicago area has been "forgotten" the facilities and operational logistics made by the organizers were inadequate; alarming predictions have been insufficiently taken into account, a form of culture of infallibility can be discussed and finally, the absence of criteria for selecting athletes for participation in the MC has been evidence. The article concludes with a discussion consisting of a perspective theoretical results.
