Introduction
The general assumption that the Maritimes Trier (1835-1971) and Pax
Britannica that resulted were imposed by Britain
diverted attention from the history of Anglo-Arab relations in the Gulf.
This hypothesis has led to the development of two opposing interpretations
the Pax. For some, the Maritimes Trier were imposed as
events required of British benevolence are more
benefited as British Arabs. For others, these have
were perceived as acts of imperialist domination enjoying more
the British as Arabs.
