DESCRIPTIVE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF CANCERS OF WOMEN IN FRANCE, THE IMPA

Knowledge of epidemiological data on disease is essential for planning needs supervision and care related to this pathology and for the implementation of preventive measures. In the field of cancer, epidemiological indicators used for this purpose are the incidence and mortality with the availability and interest are different. Incidence refers to the count of newly diagnosed cases over time in a given population. Incidence measures the extent of the disease in a population before any therapeutic action. This type of data is available only through a comprehensive record, specific to a geographic area. This recording is done by the cancer registries. Mortality is the count of deaths related to disease. It allows to understand the severity of the condition and treatment efficacy. Rately binding to the incidence, mortality is counted throughout a country. In this paper, we propose to provide the general characteristics of the incidence and cancer mortality among women in France in 2009 but also to describe the evolution of these indicators over the period 1980-2005.
