Abstract

Telemedical practices invariably rely on the exchange or sharing of health data of a personal nature. These data originally stored on paper media tend to digitize and take the form of an electronic medical record (EMR). EMR are created by the health care professional cross various stages of maturity. In addition, information systems are not uniform. Thus there are differences in the content of EMR. International standards ensure the use of common terms so that professionals can use them to exploit the content safely from medical errors and potential litigation.
