Abstract

5 years after delivering the WWTP Grésillons (Yvelines, France), Bouygues Travaux Publics has just completed the expansion of the existing plant, called Grésillons 2. The purpose of this extension is to triple the processing capacity of the existing plant to meet 300000m3 of treated water per day. This project involves the construction of thirty buildings, part of which is enclosed in the existing plant. 15 months of civil works were needed to poor some 90000 m3 of concrete and erect all the buildings. Nearly 900 people were mobilized on site, up to 18 tower cranes have been installed, and 11,000 tons of steel reinforcement were implemented. One of these buildings, called the “Biostyr”, represents on his own 38000 m3 of concrete. The study of this non-standard building (300 m long and 47m wide) allowed us to develop around two axes:
– The establishment of a 3D “Digital Mockup».
– A comparative study of the french design rules (BAEL and Fascicule74) with the new european “Eurocode 2” rules.
