Contribution to the evaluation of the opening of cracks in concrete elements

Abstract
At the serviceability limit state (SLS), the reinforced concrete elements are checked to the crack width and deformation limits. In this study, we use the shape of the curve-slip adhesion between steel and concrete proposed by the European Committee for Concrete to estimate the crack openings. Relations, covering the different phases of this law, are established and methods of computation are proposed. According to the characteristics of both materials (steel and concrete), crack widths are calculated during and after the propagation phase.
