Introduction


Of all the British officials who served in the Emirate of
Transjordan under the British Mandate (1921-1946), John Glubb is that
which led, rightly, the greatest attention both in the spirit of
public (except Jordan) in the historiography of the Jordan. Glubb was
had an enormous influence on the development of the Emirate of Transjordan
and later on that of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 1930 to 1956.
He participated in one of the most successful and one of the last colonial projects
British Middle East - The Arab Legion - and played a crucial role in
integration of nomadic tribes in the structure of the modern state.
