Introduction

In the old Levantine minority and European sector
Beyoglu, Tarlabaşı became the last twenty years a theater
emblematic of the multifaceted foreign presence and the Kurdish presence
Istanbul. This area is branded as such both by some
literature (IR Roman, 1995), the cinema, and by TV series
especially by the media and political discourse dominant. The suspicious death
a Nigerian migrant Tarlabaşı of the police on August 20, 2007, even
